Romona Man Sentenced to 16 Years for Fatal Crash
According to deputy DA Monte Bennett, a 36 year old drunk driver, named Shannon Shimp, was behind the wheel of his truck on highway 78 when he careened into oncoming traffic and collided with a 96 Lexus at 6 pm on July 22nd, 2008. The two people who perished in this tragic accident were Ian Kinney, 19 of Julian, as well as Warren Edwards, 52, a passenger in Shimp’s pickup. Shimp had a BAC level of .19 %, more than twice the legal limit for adult drivers in California, two hours after the crash.
