The San Carolos Shopping Center features Keil’s grocery store, a CVS drugstore and San Carlos Hardware. According to Keil’s manager Ric Ravelo, the woman, whose name has not yet been released, was a Keil’s customer. He said she had not been at the store Wednesday; it appeared she was coming from CVS when the incident occurred. After the accident, Ravelo helped direct traffic, while a woman gave the victim CPR in the street until paramedics arrived. Paramedics arrived and continued performing CPR, and lifesaving efforts continued at Sharp Memorial Hospital. The woman died at 11:39 a.m.
Apparently, the area where the woman was hit is not at an intersection and is not marked as a crosswalk; still, it is often used as to cross to the shopping center by residents and students. Patrick Henry High School is a block away.
