A man traveling on a motorcycle was seriously injured Friday morning in a crash that left one of the busier intersections in Escondido closed for a couple of hours. The motorcycle accident was reported at North Ash Street and East Lincoln Avenue at 6:40 a.m., police Lt. Greg Ellis said.
The motorcycle rider collided with a red Mazda pickup stopped at the intersection. The motorcyclist was heading west on Lincoln when he collided with the driver of the Mazda. The rider’s name was not released, but he is in critical condition at a nearby hospital, police report.
A San Diego native man is having surgery after a pack of dogs attacked and mauled him and his brother Sunday evening as they were out for a run with two sisters and a 9-year-old niece near Valley Center Middle School. Richard Garritson, 21, was airlifted to a hospital with bite marks to both his calves, and John Garritson, 18, was also injured, but not as severely, when he and his brother tried to defend themselves from six dogs.

A bicyclist was seriously injured Wednesday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle in Encinitas. The bicycle accident was reported to San Diego police at approximately 12:40 p.m. at the intersection of Encinitas Blvd. and Highway 101.
The victim of the accident was hit by a moving vehicle after making a left turn in form of oncoming traffic. He was immediately taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital. The San Diego Medical Examiners Office identified the victim as Todd Caulkin, 40.
A traffic accident involving a car and a big rig occurred Wednesday morning on the south Interstate 805. The accident left the car underneath the big rig, and left the woman driving it with minor injuries. The truck accident was reported right after 7:30 a.m.
The driver of the truck said he was in one of the right lanes when the car came from out of nowhere, and ended up being lodged under the rig at a 90 degree angle. National City firefighters freed the woman from the wreckage, then she was transported to a nearby hospital. The two right lanes of the roadway were blocked leaving traffic backed up almost to East Plaza Boulevard.
A 28-year-old man crossing East Park Avenue was struck early Saturday by a passing car whose driver failed to stop in San Ysidro. Reports show that the victim who was struck by the moving car suffered a broken leg but is expected to make a full recovery.
The hit-and-run accident was reported in the 100 block of East Park Avenue about 12:30 a.m. Other then the a description reporting the suspects vehicle as a beige four-door vehicle headed north during the accident, the San Diego Police Department does not have any leads in their search for the suspect.
A 53-year-old motorcyclist died after a solo crash on his motorcycle Sunday morning in Escondido. The Carlsbad local was driving his CBR900 sports bike east on Harmony Grove Road about a quarter-mile east of Country Club Drive when he took a left turn and lost control of his motorcycle.
The accident caused the victim to slid across the road before he fell down a 30-foot dirt embankment. The man was riding with a fellow motorcyclist who witnessed the accident. The man died from severe head trauma. No further information was available Sunday evening.
A multi-car pileup on the southbound Interstate 15 caused traffic to back up for miles in Temecula on Wednesday. This accident left nine people injured, and seven of them were taken to the hospital. This multiple car accident was reported to the CHP at around 8:00 a.m. just north of Winchester Road.
The accident involved a Riverside Transit Agency bus with five passengers, a box truck and four other vehicles. Of those taken to hospitals, one person was critically injured, two had moderate injuries and four had minor injuries, Cal Fire said. The cause of the crash is being investigated.
A 35-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in Rancho Bernardo Sunday in a hit-and-run crash with a suspected drunken driver who was later arrested. The victim was riding east on Bernardo Center Drive near West Bernardo Drive at around 12:30 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a woman driving a white Chevy Trail Blazer.
The victim was taken to a hospital where his injuries were said to be life-threatening and he was listed in guarded condition. The driver of the Trail Blazer was identified as 21-year-old Jessica Marie Bloom of Rancho Bernardo. She is being held at Las Colinas jail on $100,000 bail on suspicion of driving under the influence causing injury and hit-and-run causing injury.
A motorcyclist was seriously injured Tuesday after he drifted across a lane and ran into a parked truck in Santee. The rider was heading west on Carlton Oaks Drive at Oakbourne Road just before 5 p.m. when he drove across the roadway and hit the front left corner of the full-sized truck.
The man was thrown from the bike and hit his head on the windshield of the vehicle, Johnson said. He suffered major injuries to his sternum, spine and pelvis. The initial blood alcohol test show that the victim had a blood-alcohol content of 0.08.
A mother accidentally ran over her 5-year-old son with a vehicle in San Marcos Wednesday, but his injuries were not considered life-threatening, authorities said. Deputies and paramedics found that the child had suffered a head injury, but was conscious and asking for his mother, Sgt. Dan Lopez said.
The incident occurred on Rock Springs Road near Starling Way. Someone called the Sheriff’s Department about 5:50 p.m. to report that the mother had accidentally backed over her child. The child was airlifted to Rady Children’s Hospital. It was unclear if the child remained hospitalized Thursday.
