Oceanside Car Accident Leaves One Dead

One woman died and one was critically injured Thursday when their car crashed into a palm tree in the center divider of El Camino Real in Oceanside. The car accident took place at around 12:35 p.m.

He said it was not immediately known why the southbound driver veered onto the center divider. The 1999 Honda Accord CL slammed into a palm tree on the passenger side. Firefighters got the driver out and she was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. The passenger remained in the crumpled vehicle for about two hours before she was removed by paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.


Pedestrian Killed by Car in Vista

A pedestrian was hit and killed early Thursday morning by a moving vehicle in Vista San Diego. The victim was identified as 68 year-old Imelda Limon, who was a Vista native. Reports state that she was crossing North Melrose Drive by North Avenue at around 5:30 a.m. when a Saturn hit her.

The San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported the victim dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Saturn is a 64-year-old man stopped his car after hitting her. He did not suffer any injuries.


Motorcyclist Killed in Alpine Accident

A 41-year-old Santee man was killed Tuesday night when the motorcycle he was riding ran into the back of a semi trailer-truck on eastbound Interstate 8 west of Tavern Road. The truck driver, Mario Solis, 51, of Chula Vista, was driving a 2001 International semi about 35 mph up a grade shortly after 9 p.m.

The victim, who was riding a 2004 Harley Davidson, and was pronounced dead at the scene by the San Diego Medical Examiners Office. Accident reports state that it appeared the victim drove the motorcycle straight into the back of the truck. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet, but it was not a type approved by the U.S. Department of Transportation.


Traffic Accident In Pala Kills Man

On Monday a 60-year-old man who was a San Diego native was killed in a auto accident on state Route 76 near Pala Casino. The victim was driving a 1987 BMW M6, traveling west when he drifted off the right side of the road around 3:00 p.m.

The California Highway Patrol reported that when the driver lost control of his car and drifted right he struck a tree. The accident was being investigated. The westbound lane of SR-76 was closed for about three hours, CHP reported. The San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported the victim dead at the scene of the accident, but have not released his name to the public yet.


Man Killed in Crash on I-15

A man was killed Tuesday night when the car he was driving ran head-on into a construction vehicle on an Old Highway 395 off-ramp and burst into flames. The accident was reported at 6:50 p.m.

The victim was driving a 1994 Toyota Tercel south on Interstate 15 and was driving on the off-ramp at a high rate of speed when the vehicle drifted off the east edge of the off-ramp, crashing into a Caterpillar Roller that was parked for construction. The ramp was closed for about two hours during the accident investigation, and the man’s name was not yet released.


Woman Passenger in I-8 Crash Identified

The San Diego Medical Examiners Office has identified the woman that was killed in a July 6 rollover crash on Interstate 8 as Carolyn Shelton. The accident occurred near Live Oak Springs when Carolyn was riding in pickup driven by her husband. The Husband lost control of the pickup, causing it too roll over which resulted in him suffering major injuries and his wife’s death.

The San Diego Police never found alcohol or drugs to be an aspect in the accident, but they did note that their was heavy rain, and the truck most likely hydroplaned off the freeway. While the wife was killed at the scene of the accident the husband was sent to a nearby hospital with major injuries. CHP reported that both victims had their seat belt on.


Fatal Mission Bay Accident Caused By Undergae Driver

A 77-year-old man was fatally injured Thursday when an underage 15-year-old teenager who was driving his parents sports-utility vehicle without permission, backed into the 77 year old victim. The dead victim of the accident was identified by San Diego’s Medical Examiner’s Office as James Cummins of Point Loma.

Witness say that the teenage driver was headed west on Sea World Drive in a 1998 Toyota 4-Runner when he missed an exit and put his car in reverse, resulting in the collision. San Diego Police officers closed Sea World Drive near the Ingraham Street ramp to reconstruct the 12:20 a.m. accident.


East County Freeway Accident Leaves One Dead

A single vehicle accident on the Interstate 8 left one person dead and another person with serious injuries. The accident occurred when the truck involved in the accident crashed over the side of the Interstate 8 on-ramp at Crestwood Road, next too Live Oak Springs.

The San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported one person dead at the scene of the accident and the other was airlifted to a nearby hospital after suffering major injuries. The status of the injured victim is still unknown as of now. The California Highway Patrol reported that the truck was traveling east when it went off the roadway at the westbound ramp in very heavy rainfall and lightning at around 12:30pm.


Truck Collision Kills San Diego Local Woman

A 48-year-old woman, who was the passenger in a smaller Mitsubishi was killed after the car she was in crashed into a truck Sunday morning. The woman was a San Diego native, and reports show that she was wearing a seat belt in the front passenger seat. The truck accident occurred in Pala at almost 7am on state Route 76, just east of Lilac Road.

San Diego police state that the victim’s husband was driving the car west on the 76 highway when he crashed into a pickup that was turning into Pala Raceway. The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced the victim dead at the scene after numerous failed attempts at reviving her. The woman’s name has not been released, and her husband was take to a nearby hospital with unknown injuries.


Bicyclist Left Dead After Accident in Nestor

A man riding his bicycle north on the southbound lanes of Hollister Blvd at 10:40 p.m. when he fell off his bike and was hit by an oncoming car, killing him immediately. The victim has been identified by the San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office as 47-year-old Jaime Ruiz of San Diego. The bicycle accident occurred on Sunday night around 11:00 p.m. and the victim was not wearing appropriate protective gear.

San Diego officials stated that the victim was riding his bike with no lights and no helmet when he collided with a parked car, throwing him from his bike. San Diego police Detective Dan Wall stated that the victim was thrown from his bike directly into the path of a Toyota Tundra, and the driver of the Tundra had no time to avoid Ruiz. The driver of the Toyota Tundra was an off duty Border Patrol agent who was on his way back from work when the accident happened. The San Diego Medical Examiner’s Office reported Ruiz dead at the scene of the accident, and only minor injuries to the driver of the Toyota.
