A San Diego native man is having surgery after a pack of dogs attacked and mauled him and his brother Sunday evening as they were out for a run with two sisters and a 9-year-old niece near Valley Center Middle School. Richard Garritson, 21, was airlifted to a hospital with bite marks to both his calves, and John Garritson, 18, was also injured, but not as severely, when he and his brother tried to defend themselves from six dogs.
The San Diego Police Department responded to a call at around 5:30pm from the two men attacked by dogs on Cobb Lane near Coolwater Ranch Lane. Richard, is a competitive runner who was training to compete for a scholarship to Cal State San Marcos.
A pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday night in Poway after being hit by a car. The man was crossing Poway Road just west of Tarascan Drive at 8:55 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle heading west.
Police state that the victim was jaywalking and was in an unmarked and unlit portion of the road. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center with significant head and spinal cord injuries. The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
A woman who was driving the wrong-way was arrested in Del Cerro late Sunday afternoon on suspicion of drunk driving. Police arrested her after she crashed her car hurting herself and another individual who was driving the car she hit.
The woman who is 51 years-old was driving north in the sounthbound lanes of College Avenue near Lambda Drive in a Mini Cooper about 4:45 p.m. when she collided with a Kia sedan being driven by a man in his mid 30’s. San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported that both drivers suffered broken bones and had to be taken to nearby hospitals.
