The San Diego Police Department is investigating a hit-and-run death of a 44-year-old transient in National City. A motorist saw the woman, whose name was not released, lying the middle of the street on Plaza Boulevard near B Avenue about 7:30 p.m.
The driver turned around to investigate further and saw a dark sedan crash into the woman, slow down, then drive off, according to the county Medical Examiner’s Office. The witness called 911. Paramedics took her to a hospital, where she died. An autopsy was being conducted Tuesday afternoon.
One woman died and one was critically injured Thursday when their car crashed into a palm tree in the center divider of El Camino Real in Oceanside. The car accident took place at around 12:35 p.m.
He said it was not immediately known why the southbound driver veered onto the center divider. The 1999 Honda Accord CL slammed into a palm tree on the passenger side. Firefighters got the driver out and she was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition. The passenger remained in the crumpled vehicle for about two hours before she was removed by paramedics and pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
A 21-year-old motorcycle driver from Escondido was seriously injured Tuesday when he was run over after being involved in a motorcycle accident. The motorcyclist was heading north on Bear Valley Parkway at Birch Avenue about 5:50 a.m. when he broadsided a 2003 Saturn car going west on Birch that failed to stop at the stop sign.
The victim of the accident who had the right away, was thrown from his bike and ended up in traffic lanes. The 29-year-old driver of the Saturn then lost control of the car, which spun around and was hit by a different vehicle traveling south.
A man traveling on a motorcycle was seriously injured Friday morning in a crash that left one of the busier intersections in Escondido closed for a couple of hours. The motorcycle accident was reported at North Ash Street and East Lincoln Avenue at 6:40 a.m., police Lt. Greg Ellis said.
The motorcycle rider collided with a red Mazda pickup stopped at the intersection. The motorcyclist was heading west on Lincoln when he collided with the driver of the Mazda. The rider’s name was not released, but he is in critical condition at a nearby hospital, police report.
All lanes of eastbound state Route 52 were blocked just west of Genesee Avenue Wednesday after a crash left debris scattered in the roadway. A large truck transporting drywall, concrete and sheetrock turned over in the slow lane just before 10 a.m.
The crash left the trailer on its roof and the materials scattered everywhere. Traffic was backed up for more than a mile as authorities worked to right the vehicle and remove the debris. The alert was canceled just before 11 a.m.
A San Diego native man is having surgery after a pack of dogs attacked and mauled him and his brother Sunday evening as they were out for a run with two sisters and a 9-year-old niece near Valley Center Middle School. Richard Garritson, 21, was airlifted to a hospital with bite marks to both his calves, and John Garritson, 18, was also injured, but not as severely, when he and his brother tried to defend themselves from six dogs.

A pedestrian was seriously injured Sunday night in Poway after being hit by a car. The man was crossing Poway Road just west of Tarascan Drive at 8:55 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle heading west.
Police state that the victim was jaywalking and was in an unmarked and unlit portion of the road. He was taken to Palomar Medical Center with significant head and spinal cord injuries. The driver of the vehicle stopped and is cooperating with authorities.
A woman who was driving the wrong-way was arrested in Del Cerro late Sunday afternoon on suspicion of drunk driving. Police arrested her after she crashed her car hurting herself and another individual who was driving the car she hit.
The woman who is 51 years-old was driving north in the sounthbound lanes of College Avenue near Lambda Drive in a Mini Cooper about 4:45 p.m. when she collided with a Kia sedan being driven by a man in his mid 30’s. San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported that both drivers suffered broken bones and had to be taken to nearby hospitals.
A suspected drunk driver, a 23-year-old man, veered off Miramar Road and landed on train tracks in Sorrento Valley early Friday. The man was driving westbound at approximately 2 a.m. when he lost control of his car, hitting a curb causing his car to go down an embankment.
The drunk driver landed his car on its side across a set of train tracks. It took firefighters about 35 minutes to free the driver from the wreckage. The driver was taken to a hospital with a broken thigh bone and ankle, and faces charges of drunken driving.
A pedestrian was hit and killed early Thursday morning by a moving vehicle in Vista San Diego. The victim was identified as 68 year-old Imelda Limon, who was a Vista native. Reports state that she was crossing North Melrose Drive by North Avenue at around 5:30 a.m. when a Saturn hit her.
The San Diego Medical Examiners Office reported the victim dead at the scene of the accident. The driver of the Saturn is a 64-year-old man stopped his car after hitting her. He did not suffer any injuries.
